Breckenridge is about to transform into a winter wonderland of epic proportions!

Though we'll have to wait until next year to watch as talented artists hand-carve giant blocks of snow into magnificent sculpture creations, we're getting really excited that this international competition will soon be right here in our backyard.

Coming to Breckenridge from January 20-29, 2020, the International Snow Sculpture Championships will find 16 teams from around the world competing for the top prize as they transform 25-ton blocks of snow into gorgeous works of across five days (around 96 hours work!), from January 20-24. And, to make things more interesting (and difficult), the artists are only allowed to use hand tools—that's right, no power tools.

Then, all of that hard work will result in a temporary art gallery on the streets of downtown Breckenridge for the public to enjoy. The viewing days for the completed sculptures will be between January 24-29, with the site closing down at 7 p.m. on the final day as the sculptures will be dismantled.
