Halloween is not canceled this year, at least not at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore!
Ghosts and goblins, witches and zombies are all welcome to attend Maryland Zoo’s 37th annual ZooBOOO! on Friday and Saturday, October 30–31, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
This year, ZooBOOO! will look a bit different due to the COVID-based adjustments the zoo has made for the comfort and safety of all the participants. The festivities this year will be limited to only trick-or-treating. In years past there have been costume contests, elephant pumpkin-smashing, carnival games and crafts, a hay maze, and live entertainment. But we'll take what we can get, right?
Here's a sneak peek of the gourd times happening this Friday, Saturday & Sunday! Don't miss the SMASH at 11am daily during ZooBOOO! presented by @chase. #pumpkin #halloween #halloween🎃👻 #pumpkinsmash #elephant #enrichment #zoo #zooboo #zoobooo #pumpkins #zoo #animals #weekend #thisweekend #baltimore
However, just because activities are limited doesn't mean you can’t have fun! You can still wear your favorite costume, visit the zoo’s exotic animals, and collect candy at the trick-or-treat stations!
ZooBOOO! tickets are on sale beginning Friday, October 16, and timed ticketing reservations are required to enter the zoo. Guests (especially the young ones) are encouraged to wear costumes, and face masks or costume masks that cover the mouth and nose must be worn when interacting with staff members, volunteers, or other guests that are not with your group as well as in designated “mask zones” throughout the zoo. The Maryland Zoo also asks, for the health and comfort of everyone, that guests practice social distancing and follow the COVID-based protocols during their visit.
