Catch screenings of 42: The Jackie Robinson Story and A League of Their Own

Spring has sprung, which means the beginning of baseball season—hooray! To mark the occasion, a home run of an event aptly called Blossoms & Baseball is batting through DC.

On Friday, April 2, and Saturday, April 3, catch screenings of baseball-themed flicks at The Stacks in Southwest DC. Friday night's feature is 42: The Jackie Robinson Story (2013) and Saturday's showing is A League of Their Own (1992). Both critically-acclaimed films will be shown at 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot at 101 V St. SW. Before the screenings, there will be trivia, giveaways, and prizes themed around—you guessed it—cherry blossoms and baseball.

The special drive-in is hosted by Capitol Riverfront, in partnership with the National Cherry Blossom Festival and Washington Nationals. Event proceeds will benefit Living Classrooms, a local charity that "inspires children, youth, and adults to achieve their potential through hands-on education, workforce development, health and wellness, and violence prevention programming."

A few things to touch base on before you go. Guests will be required to wear masks and stay inside their cars unless using the restrooms. Admission is $20 per vehicle, and to ensure social distancing, only 100 spots will be available in the lot. Since tickets need to be ordered in advance, you'll want to reserve your place as soon as possible. Takeout from area restaurants is encouraged for food, but there will also be ballpark bites from Swizzler Hot Dog Truck on Saturday.

Can't make it to the lot this time around? No sweat. Communications Director Bonnie Trein confirmed to WTOP that more movies were on the way, with a six-week drive-in starting on April 23, so stay tuned for more info! You can purchase tickets here.
