Every summer, Virginia Beach piles on an endless amount of events starting at the end of April in preparation for the tourist season. Here's everything you need to do in Virginia Beach this summer! 

April

Dolphin Discoveries | Virginia Aquarium | April 3–May 26

Starting April 3, the Dolphin Discoveries event will run through May 26. This is a family-friendly event that allows you to get up-close and personal with dolphins. Tickets are selling for $16.95 for kids and $22.95 for adults -- get them here! For more information, you can check out the event on the Aquarium's website.

Something in the Water | Oceanfront | April 26, 28, and 29

Pharrell Williams returns home for three days to give the locals a concert they won't forget. Occurring during the middle of College Week, Something in the Water will allow Pharrell to perform his most famous hits such as "Happy," alongside with a lineup of other famous celebs. The event has grown so popular that he is encouraging locals to open up their homes to Airbnb. For more information, check out the event here! Little Women | Regent University | April 26-May 5

Based on the beloved book by Louisa May Alcott, the play retells the story of four sisters growing up in New England during the Civil War era. Atlantic Coast Kite Festival | 17th Street Oceanfront | May 4-5

The annual Atlantic Coast Kite Festival will feature a kite contest, kite-building workshop, and a kite-flying demonstration. Witness the unique creations of Virginia Beach locals. Admission to the event is free! For more information, check out the event here!

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare | Zeiders American Dream Theater | May 7-12

The Reduced Shakespeare Company returns with their audience-favorite The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, which quickly runs through all 37 complete Shakespeare works in only 97 minutes. The show is a hilariously entertaining delight to witness and should be seen by everyone. Pungo Offroad Monsters on the Beach | 6th Street | May 17-19

Watch as monster trucks battle it out for the winning trophy. Presented by Eastern Truck & Accessories, the family-friendly event is the largest monster truck event of Hampton Roads. Tidewater Comicon | Virginia Beach Convention Center | May 18–19

Are you ready for the biggest Comicon event of Hampton Roads? Several guest celebrities will be attending, like Dante Basco and Nafessa Williams. Comic book creators and special media guests will be attending as well. The Comicon will feature celebrity photo ops, costume contests, gaming schedules, panels, and merchandise on sale. Strawberry Jamboree | Virginia Beach Farmers' Market | May 18

Head on out to the Virginia Beach Farmers' Market for a strawberry pie-eating contest, craft show, children's activities, and live music. Admission to the event is free. For more information, check out the event here and on Visit Virginia Beach's website

June

North American Sand Soccer Championships | Virginia Beach Boardwalk | June 7-9

Head on down to the Oceanfront for a fun two days of competition. Pull out your beach chairs, sunblock, and umbrellas as you lounge and watch the competition unfold. Check out the schedule of events here! Admission to the event is free! Boardwalk Art Show and Festival | Virginia Beach Boardwalk | June 13-16

275 artists from all over the U.S. will be attending the craft show. Virginia Beach's longest-running oceanfront event will feature an eclectic range of fine arts and crafts. Learn more here!

Latin Festival | On the beach at 24th Street | June 21-22

The Latin Festival mixes together good food, family participation, and first-rate Latin music to give you two great days of fun and live, electrifying performances. 2019 Virginia Craft Festival | Virginia Beach Convention Center | June 28-30

July

Stars and Stripes Explosion | 2401 Atlantic Ave | July 4

Multiple orchestra performances will lead you on a star-bangled salute all the way to the fireworks explosion. Admission to all concerts is free! For more information, check out the event here!

Chalk the Block | On the Boardwalk at 17th Street | July 6

Approximately 200 competitors will take over three blocks of the Boardwalk to try their hand at their own 4'x4' chalk art creation. There are multiple categories of competitors -- youth, adult, amateur, and professional! Admission to the event is free, but if you want to be a chalk artist, registration is required. Symphony by the Sea | Virginia Beach Oceanfront 31st Street | July 11-September 5

The popular Symphony by the Sea series is back for another summer! On July 11 and 25, August 8, 15, and 22, and September 5, see performances by either Symphonicity or The Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Admission to the event is free, but you'll want to get there early 'cause these concerts fill up fast! For more information, check out the event here

2019 Treasures of the Earth Gem and Jewelry Show | Virginia Beach Convention Center | July 19-21

Head over to the Convention Center to see all kinds of jewelry made from crystals, metals, and fossils. See what the earth has to offer!Admission to the event is free! For more information, check out the event here!

Fishing Frenzy | False Cape State Park | July 20

Enjoy a day of fishing and fun and get a chance to catch a bass, crappie, sunfish, white perch, catfish, carp, gar, and more. Fish identification charts will be given to everyone so they can see what they caught. Admission to the event is $8 per person. For more information, check out the event here!

August

Virginia Beach Tattoo Festival | Virginia Beach Convention Center | August 9-11

Admission to the event is free, but the price varies depending on the tattoo you will be getting. Check out the artists and shops that will be attending here! Besides the tattoos, the event will feature vendors, entertainment, and a contest. For more information, check out the event here!

5th Annual Coastal Craft Beer Festival | Neptune's Park | August 24

Enjoy craft beers and delicious food, and discover new favorites! Tickets to the event are $30-$40 each. For more information, check out the event here

Rock N Roll Half Marathon | Virginia Beach Boardwalk | August 31-September 1
