The Capitol Riverfront is one of the up and coming areas of the District, and this festival is the perfect reason to visit. The Oyster & Beer fest runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, next to Nationals Stadium.

For $39, you will have access to 30 different beers, wine, and even champagne to pair with the 12 different kinds of oysters available. You'll receive a wine glass and $1 oysters! If seafood is your passion, then upgrade to the VIP Mermaid’s Bounty Admission for $79. When you're a mermaid, you'll be able to get unlimited food tastings, VIP seating, a champagne toast, and unlimited oysters for three hours.

Not only will there be raw, grilled, and steamed oysters from the best oyster farmers around, but other seafood will be available! On hand there will be a New England Clambake, which is just about the experience as much as it is about the food! Shuckers will be around to help you learn to shuck and pick out fresh oysters. Fill up on lobsters, shrimp, and mussels while you're there. If you've had your fill of fish, don't worry, there will be food trucks on hand with other meats and food to keep you satisfied.

Representatives from local breweries, distilleries, and wineries will serve your favorite drinks and offer you advice on the best libations to go with each oyster and other different seafood being offered.

While you make your rounds through the food tents, there will be music on hand from local jam bands and giveaways throughout the day. Portions of the profits will also go to the Spirit of Hope Children's Foundation, so you can eat and drink and support a good cause. To buy your tickets and for more information, visit the festival's website.
