Get your "apres-ski" on with food, brews, and entertainment, only at The Yards Park Boardwalk.
Grab your coziest scarf and hat—you're going to need it for the sixth annual Ice Yards! Brought to you by The Yards D.C., this chill winter lounge is styled after those post-ski sessions of downtime after hitting the slopes with food, entertainment, and plenty of booze. Not much of a skier? No worries—Skiing is not required for this fun, cold-weather event!
From 1 to 5 p.m., The Yards Park Boardwalk will host apres-ski entertainment throughout the afternoon. Upon entering the wintery enclave, guests can enjoy craft cocktails and brews from a variety of bars, including The Ski Patrol Hot Beverage Hut and the perfectly on-point Shotski Bar (a "shotski" is when you take a shot off a downhill ski—the more you know!). Food will be available for purchase from local restaurants, while live jams from Uncle Jesse Band will supply a boost of '90s/'00s nostalgia. Live ice-carving, axe-throwing, games, and a group Shotski attempt will round out the festivities.
As an added bonus, Ice Yards is also teaming up with Polar Bear Plunge to continue raising money for the Special Olympics Maryland. Participants can take the "plunge" by jumping into swimming pools set up for the event. You can also donate if the freezing-cold water doesn't appeal to you, though honestly, this way is much more memorable! Interested? You can register here.
Admission is $10, which includes access to the above entertainment, as well as a complimentary beverage.
Yards Park is accessible by car, bike, and public transportation, including the Metro's Green Line and D.C. Circulator. For taking the Metro, the closest stop is located at the Navy Yard-Ballpark Metro Station.
