Kick up the Halloween festivities at the Maryland Zoo's annual 'ZooBOOO!' event.

What if we told you that you can visit the Maryland Zoo and see elephants smashing pumpkins?

Well, you're in luck, because the Maryland Zoo is hosting its 36th annual "ZooBOOO!" event that will combine trick-or-treating, games, Halloween-themed activities, and of course, elephants smashing pumpkins! The Zoo will be all decked out in Halloween decorations, trick-or-treating stations, and the not-so-spooky hay maze, inflatables, crafts, and animal enrichments.

Forget trick-or-treating in your neighborhood. The Maryland Zoo will give you enough candy to last you through the holidays—just don't forget to bring along your trick-or-treating bag!

WHEN: Fri., Oct. 25–Sun., Oct. 27 | 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
WHERE: Maryland Zoo at Baltimore | 1 Safari Pl., Baltimore, MD 21217
COST: The event is FREE with Zoo admission

The festivities begin at 10:30 a.m., just half an hour after the park opens. Prizes will be awarded to the kiddos in each age group (0-3, 4-7, and 8 and up) with the most original costume, the scariest costume, the best animal costume, and the best character costume. The costume contests will happen twice each day: at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.!

One of the best parts of ZooBoooo! happens at 11 a.m. each day, when the elephants smash the pumpkins. So satisfying! Check out this clip from a previous year:
