For one glorious day, Colorado museum fans can fuel their minds for a price that can't be beat.

September 22 will see museums statewide open their doors to the public and encourage learning for all ages, and all at no cost. Museum Day, now in its 14th year, is an annual celebration of curiosity hosted by Smithsonian Magazine. Anyone who has a Museum Day ticket will be granted free entry for two people to around 1,400 participating museums and cultural institutions across the country, including several in our home state.

The 2018 theme is “Women Making History,” recognizing women who are trailblazers in the arts, sciences, innovation, and culture.

“Now, more than ever, we recognize the importance of Museum Day in making our country’s knowledge and culture accessible to everyone,” says Amy Wilkins, Chief Revenue Officer at Smithsonian Media. “Given the strides women are making in society, our theme – Women Making History – encourages participating museums and museumgoers alike to celebrate and honor the female heroines that help shape the world around us.”

This year, 27 Colorado museums will participate in this amazing event, up from 18 last year. Reservations (in form of a ticket) are required to participate in this event. Check out our list below, or go to the Smithsonian magazine site, and choose your museum to Get your Ticket. It’s important to note that the ticket covers admission to the museum, but not extras like special exhibits, IMAX shows, etc. But heck, with all the dough you’ll save on admission, you can splurge on those extras, anyway!
