Pledge, plunge, and party at Special Olympics Colorado's signature event.

Us Coloradans are always bragging about how much cold we can handle, but can you prove it? Put your money where your mouth is and support a good cause at one of the several locations of the Special Olympics Colorado Polar Plunge Series.

"The Special Olympics Polar Plunge presented by Westerra Credit Union is our signature event that motivates communities statewide to take a quick, fun, chilly dip to raise funds and awareness for the mission and athletes of Special Olympics," says the organization's website

If diving into frigid winter waters has always been a dream, you can now make it a reality through April. From Avon to Fort Collins, participants only have to raise $75 to take a doozy of a dip. Teams are also welcome to sign up, in case you want to do some extreme office team building.

While the water won't make a lasting impact, your donations will! Funds go to support Special Olympics of Colorado programs like Young Athletes, Unified Sports, Healthy Athletes, and Athlete Leadership Programs.

"Every Plunge makes a difference for nearly 25,000 Special Olympics Colorado athletes. Special Olympics Colorado offers children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round sports training and competition," the organization says.

And, taking the plunge is not all about freezing your appendages off -- each event is a party in itself that is guaranteed to warm your heart (and eventually the rest of your body). Check out the list of the locations and dates below, and visit the Special Olympics of Colorado website for more information and to register.
