Think you've got the strength to pull a plane?

For years, the Denver community has pulled together to benefit Special Olympics Colorado athletes. In this energetic and effective fundraising event, teams compete against each other to pull a plane 20 feet across the tarmac in the least amount of time.

Everyone will enjoy taking in the views at the Rocky Mountain Airport while viewing police vehicles and airplanes on display, and every participant will receive a sandwich from Subway.

This event has been modified to ensure safety procedures and COVID-19 protocols. In the past, teams of 25 people would pull a larger plane. This year, thanks to Mountain Aviation, teams of 10 will pull a 64,000-pound Gulfstream IV. Another change includes relocating the event to Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (Broomfield) and limiting the number of people on-site at a given time.

Join in the fun with a purpose by registering as an individual or gather friends and family to create a team of 10 people. There is no cost to register, though each team is required to raise at least $1,000 (or $100 per person in a team of 10 people). All proceeds benefit Special Olympics of Colorado. Online registration closes September 11 at 5 p.m, but you can also register on-site at the event.

It's sure to be a full day of fun for athletes, teams, and families. Kids of all ages enjoy the challenge of pulling a plane together. Prizes will be awarded for the slowest and fastest teams as well as the best costumes. Teams and individuals raising the most money will also be honored.

Check out the event site for all details, including COVID-10 parameters and the incredible sponsors that have joined in to support the event.

If you can't make it to the event, you can still participate in big ways by donating or by sharing the event on social media.
