The happy little kitty is ready to bring joy to Maryland while social distancing (of course).

The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck is back on the road and one of its first stops this summer is the Mall in Columbia. Hello Kitty fans can visit the truck to get sweet treats and exclusive merchandise like enamel pins, totes, and plush animals.

The company has implemented new policies and procedures designed to keep visitors and employees safe during its tour around the country. The Hello Kitty truck will be parked in the courtyard area near Maggiano’s Little Italy from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020.

Hello Kitty is a fictional character that was created in Japan by the Sanrio Company in 1974. Her image was emblazoned on t-shirts, purses, backpacks, tiny notebooks, and hundreds of other items. Sanrio has several characters over the years and built Hello Kitty into a multi-billion-dollar global brand. In addition to the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck, there are stationary Hello Kitty Cafes that serve cakes, pastries, cookies, and afternoon tea service.

The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will have a menu that includes macaroons, cake, Madeleines, and giant cookies. Spend more than $30 on food, and you’ll get a free tote bag. Visitors can also purchase exclusive Hello Kitty Truck items including mugs, keychains, totes, lunch boxes, and more. It’s the perfect opportunity to take your Hello Kitty lover for a unique fan experience.

To help keep everyone safe, the Hello Kitty Truck will be sanitizing surfaces every 30 minutes, setting up social distancing markers, and providing hand sanitizer. All employees inside the truck will be wearing masks and gloves. Hello Kitty is asking visitors to wear masks, stay six feet apart, and stay home if they are feeling sick.
