The sunflower field’s peak bloom starts in mid-August.

What’s happier than a giant sunflower in the garden? How about a giant field full of sunflowers? Every year, farms all over Maryland plant fields of giant sunflowers and open them up for the public to enjoy. This summer, residents of Howard County will have one right down the road in Maple Lawn. Sunflowers of Lisbon, a Frederick farm, is branching out this year and planting another giant field of happy at the Maple Lawn Farm in Fulton. The farm opened on Thursday, August 13, 2020.

Visitors can roam the fields, go on a hayride, and take pictures throughout the 10-acre sunflower field. On the weekends, the farm will have live music and entertainment, craft vendors, and food trucks. The sunflowers usually bloom for two weeks, so make sure you go sooner than later. Sunflowers of Lisbon also has a location in Frederick that will bloom in September if you’re not able to visit in August. Both farms will also have theme nights throughout the bloom season; check the Facebook page for details.

Extra flowers will be available for $2 each. Your furry friends can come along, as long as they are on a leash. The farm asks that visitors observe social distancing and wear masks on the hayride.
