This will be Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary's 15th year hosting the race. According to the sanctuary, "All funds raised will go towards the life-saving work Poplar Spring does every day. The funds will care and feed the farm animals that live at Poplar Spring, as well as educate the public about compassion towards all animals." Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is a 429-acre farm sanctuary in Poolesville, Maryland, that is devoted to providing permanent homes for farm animals and wildlife that were abused, neglected, or injured. The sanctuary began in 1996 and now is the home to over 200 animals including Irwin the pig, Franny the sheep, and Edward the peacock. Husband and wife Terry Cummings and Dave Hoerauf currently run the sanctuary and are the original founders. The sanctuary relies on donations from the public to provide a lifetime of love to the animals. You can donate here and can even use your donation to sponsor a farm animal. Your sponsorship provides that animal with daily feed, shelter, and veterinary care, and you can visit your sponsored friend in person! What do you think? Going to sign up?
