Dig out your shovel and pail for Belmar, New Jersey's annual Sandcastle building contest!
It's that time of year to dust off your pails and shovels in New Jersey. Today, Wednesday, July 17, is the 33rd Sandcastle Contest in Belmar, New Jersey, hosted by the Belmar Tourism Commission.
This Monmouth County tradition is happening today, with the judging taking place at noon. There will be games, dancing, and prizes but the best part? It's free!
Don't let the heat keep you away from the all-natural sandy creations. Open to all ages young and old, this contest features crafty artists sculpting away to claim this year's trophy and beach-themed prize.
If you happen to be down at the shore, make sure to keep cool with plenty of water and sunscreen thanks to today's excessive heat warning.
The contest is located on 18th Avenue Beach, in Belmar, New Jersey.
Can't make it to Belmar? Here's an idea: Hold your own family-judged sandcastle-building contest at your next beach day this summer!
