Stretch your way to peace alongside penguins, lions, and elephants with "Yoga at the Zoo"!

Just in time for beautiful spring weather, the Maryland Zoo announced the return of their yoga classes! Say "namaste" to penguins, elephants, and lions as you stretch and breathe your way to inner peace, and escape the world for just a little bit.

Each class is 60 minutes long and hosted in a different exhibit area of the zoo: the Penguin Coast, Lion Habitat, and Elephant Overlook, which is a new addition to this year's offerings. Sessions are meant for guests over 15 years of age and open to a variety of skill levels.

It's no wonder these popular classes draw crowds year after year. In a press release, director of events Colleen Burch commented on the "unique setting" the zoo provides for a relaxing activity like yoga. "You're not just exercising, you're making memories," she said. Who wouldn't want to do Mountain Pose near the lions at sunrise?

To keep guests safe, the zoo is implementing safety measures per the city's guidelines. Masks and social distancing will be required, and classes will be held outside to minimize spread.

If striking a pose next to elephants and lions sounds pretty wild, now's your chance! Tickets for "Yoga at the Zoo" are $25 and cover the yoga session and zoo admission. Zoo members will receive a $10 discount on their tickets. Due to the limited space, sessions are likely to sell out fast, so the sooner you purchase your tickets, the better. Reserve your spot here.

  • May 8 & May 23: Penguin Coast @ 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • June 13: Elephant Overlook @ 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • June 26: Lion Habitat @ 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
