This year, the Alexandria Film Festival will celebrate the work of independent filmmakers. Both free and ticketed screenings will be held along the Alexandria Waterfront, at the Beatley Central Library, and the AMC Hoffman Theater 22.

If you're looking for something cultural to do this week, check out the schedule of events for the Alexandria Film Festival. Kick off the festival with free waterfront screenings of six new short films at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 8. There is no charge for the opening event, and there will be free popcorn for the first 100 visitors. Waterfront Park is open to the elements, so plan accordingly! At the very least, you will need to pack a picnic blanket to sit on or camp chairs.
