Come hang out at Little Bennett Golf Course in Clarksburg, Maryland, on June 15 and 16. Explore food, ice cream, vendors, live music, and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained!
Summertime always has and always will be associated with a waffle ice cream cone, slowly melting in the hot rays of the sun as your taste buds are tickled by sweet, sweet goodness. And this free family-friendly event, with a solid focus on ice cream, promises to be a feast for the senses. Stop by on Friday, June 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. or Saturday, June 16, from 5 to 9 p.m. Here are some of the fun things you can expect.
Ice Cream Eating Competition
Little ones 12 years of age and under can eat their weight in ice cream! Just kidding. Each participant will receive a small bowl of ice cream, and you know how it goes: first one to finish, wins! The victor will receive a gift certificate to a local retailer, while all participants get a goodie bag. The competition will take place only on Saturday, June 16, at 6, 7, and 8 p.m. and is limited to 15 kids per time slot.
Vendors -- Shop Till You Drop!
Various retailers will be on hand for the shoppers in the crowd. Matilda Jane Clothing for kids will provide a fun selection of cute summer threads, so bring your little fashionistas to get the latest summer styles. Joanna Gaines, the star of the oh-so-addictive show Fixer Upper (my guilty pleasure) teamed up with Matilda Jane Clothing to design effortless and easy-going pieces inspired by life on the farm. I just wish they came in my size! And for adults looking to spruce up their wardrobe, Brianne Murphy, an independent stylist with Stella & Dot, can help you accessorize with bags and jewelry.
Ice Cream and Food Trucks
Don’t get hangry -- find a food truck! There will be several ice cream trucks at the event, like Mrs. Moo’s which doles out hand-dipped ice cream, milkshakes, and sandwiches. Food trucks will be plentiful as well. Take your pick from American BBQ, Korean BBQ fusion, the Taco Truck (authentic Mexican), and the Crossroads Bistro which boasts an extensive fusion menu. You will NOT go home hungry! Dining al fresco -- somehow food just tastes better outdoors.
Live Music
The mother-daughter duo, Bittersweet, will be playing and singing their sweet little songs on Saturday, June 16. They perform a variety of genres and support their vocals using a selection of handmade instruments, including ukuleles. To hear a sample, check out their page.
Paint Night Experience
Staring at a blank canvas can be intimidating, but not at this paint night! You will be guided along in your painting adventures as you create either a donut or an ice cream cone to commemorate your sweet day. The following time slots are available: June 15, 7 to 9 p.m. and June 16, 5 to 7 p.m. (a special Mommy and Me paint session), and 7 to 9 p.m. But hurry, only 40 spaces are available per time slot so sign up here. Cost is $39 per person, and part of the proceeds will be donated to a charity.
Fun Demonstrations
Kiddos will not be bored thanks to fun, hands-on activities. I’m The Chef Too! will provide a cookie decorating station so all of the energy from the ice cream can be harnessed to make a personalized cookie for dad. Don’t forget, Father’s Day is June 17! And for the adults, Nancy from Pampered Chef will demo their newest ice cream sandwich maker.
