The Butterfly Society of Virginia is hosting a festival! Engage your senses with the most beautiful butterflies you have ever seen. Not only will you be viewing live butterflies, but you can participate in educational booths, demonstrations, and plenty of other activities. Who knew a game of chess could really be turned into a musical? Watch as this game of chess turns into a love triangle between an American chess star and a Russian champion. Eric Carle: Moonlit Nights and Other Illustrations | The Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk | Ongoing

Forgotten Soldier | American Revolution Museum, Yorktown | Ongoing

Are you curious about the American Revolution and how both free and enslaved African Americans played a part? If so, check out this historical event! Tickets to the event are $7.50-$15 each – learn more here!

Lenda Murray Pro AM Bodybuilding | Harrison Opera House, Norfolk | Saturday

Have you been wanting to enter a bodybuilding competition? Lenda Murray is holding an IFBB Pros event to gather future bodybuilders, as well as raise awareness about the body and health. Monarch Cobia Classic | Long Bay Pointe Marina, Virginia Beach | Friday-Sunday

Gather with other Old Dominion University alumni for two full days of fishing at the Long Bay Pointe Marina, and compete for prizes – including $25,000 in cash. The tournament will conclude with a block party to celebrate the winnings and competition, along with entertainment from BJ Griffin and the Galaxy Groove and special guests, Redskins Cheerleaders. Star Gazing and Laser Lights Show | Virginia Living Museum, Newport News | Saturday

A Talk With Marquis de Lafayette | St. John's Church | Saturday

Set aside a half an hour of your day to speak with a historical figure who defied the odds for the American people! Chat with Marquis de Lafayette and learn about his journey, as well as the sacrifices that he made for his quest across the Atlantic Ocean against the orders of King Louis XVI. La Belle Époque: French Design in Maymont's Gilded Age Mansion | Maymont | Ongoing

Celebrate the French art of the 19th century with chosen pieces from the Gilded Age Mansion of James and Sallie Dooley. Have you heard about a homeless man attempting to become a comedian? Well, now is your chance to learn about the daily life struggles, human interactions, and sacrifices made to become a comedian while you are homeless. Waterplay in the Children's Garden | Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden | Ongoing

Free Beer Garden Concert Series | The Virginia Beer Company | Friday

Origins of American Democracy | Jamestown Settlement | Ongoing

Participate in a monthlong set of events honoring the 400th anniversary of the first representative legislative assembly from 1619. Summer Nights | Busch Gardens | Ongoing
