Everyone is "raven" about the Edgar Allan Poe Festival.
The International Edgar Allan Poe Festival and Awards will return to Baltimore, Maryland, on October 5 and 6—and it is, quite frankly, the perfect way to spend the first weekend in October!
The darkest writer of his time spent many of his last years living in Baltimore, so it only makes sense that he is celebrated in his own city!
WHEN: October 5–6 | Saturday: 11 a.m.–5 p.m. | Sunday: 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
WHERE: Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum | 203 N. Amity Street, Baltimore, MD 21223
What to Expect:
There will be both free and ticketed events that will allow you to seek out and experience Edgar Allan Poe to your heart's content!
- Live musical and theatrical performances
- Poetry readings
- Poe-themed souvenirs
- Writer competitions
- Delicious food and Poe-themed drinks
If you want to take advantage of the festivities for a more in-depth view of this life, you can purchase tickets to one of these celebratory events: The Black Cat Ball and Poe's Funeral Re-enactment and Candlelight Vigil.
For two days, Baltimore plans to pay homage to Poe's life and legacy, allowing you to witness new secrets of the famed writer.
Fun fact: he showed up butt-naked to a military drill so he could be kicked out of the military and live his life as a writer. He obviously did not get along with authority very well!
