About the Venue

Fort C.F. Smith Park is Arlington's own historical site dedicated to the Union presence during the Civil War. Its unique role in the county is to provide visitors with an idea of what life was like for the soldiers and residents of 19th century Virginia.

Head inside to the information center and view the permanent exhibits of Civil War life and historical artifacts. There is a replica Union campsite, and you can even try on some Union uniforms!

Know Before You Go

  • This event will be outdoors, so wear comfortable shoes. Bring folding camp chairs if raised seating is an issue for you.
  • Civil War reenactments are family-friendly, educational events. Actors will take the time out to introduce vignettes and what each scene will portray -- you don't need to worry about inappropriate or scary programming.
  • Bring snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, and a picnic blanket to make the most of the day at the park. This would be a perfect time to unplug and enjoy the outdoors.

For more information, call Fort C.F. Park at (703) 228-4775 or visit their website.
