Travel the world in 80 days? Psh. You can do it in one.

Global Fest is back around again in Aurora this Saturday, and now it’s filled with even more global goodness. For those who haven’t been to Global Fest, it’s a festival that celebrates international cultures from all different parts in the world. This event is completely free! (Yes, parking’s free, too!) But, why Aurora?

As it turns out, one of five Aurora residents was born outside of the United States. Global Fest is an opportunity to unite and honor different cultures from all around.

Global Fest features a Parade of Nations, an International Fashion Show, along with food vendors, and two stages for music and dancing performances. For 2019, they added an International Marketplace. Several vendors will be selling merch inspired by their heritage and cultures. This year’s Global Fest features a performance by acclaimed Colombian electro harpist Enki Bello.

There’s also arts and crafts and a children’s activity area from Museo de las Americas, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and the Denver Zoo, in partnership with the Mexican Cultural Center. The only bad news is that Fido will have to stay at home. Dogs are not allowed at the fest.

Did we remind you yet that parking is free?! You’ll find it at the Aurora Municipal Center! For those who want to avoid traffic altogether, you're encouraged to take RTD’s R Line light rail to Aurora Metro Center Station, a short walk from the event site.

Global Fest takes place on August 17 from 11 a.m.–6 p.m. at Aurora Municipal Center, Great Lawn, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, Aurora, CO 80012. You can find out more information here.
