The Urbanna Oyster Festival is finally here! One of the biggest events of its kind in the state, this festival will shut down the entire town for shucking competitions and demonstrations, children's activities, live music, and tons of great food.

Anyone who loves oysters will have a great time at the Urbanna Oyster Festival. From roasted oysters to oyster chowder or simply served on the half-shell, there will be no shortage of ways to celebrate this scrumptious delicacy.

What's on the menu?

With over 50 food vendors, you won't have to look far to find good food. Enjoy oysters in many different ways: steamed, Rockefeller, fried ... you name it, they'll have it! For those who don't do seafood, there will also be a wide variety of festival-type food as well. Hooray for funnel cakes and kettle corn! This is a pay-as-you-go festival, so you may want to bring cash for some of the smaller food and craft vendors.

What is there to do at the festival?

There is SO MUCH going on at the Urbanna Oyster Festival! Each day has its own parade: Friday is the Fireman's Parade at 7 p.m., followed by the Fireman's Dance at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the Oyster Festival Parade starts at 2 p.m. All day on both days, live music will be performed at the waterfront and festival market.

Children's activities include a rock wall, outdoor games, arts and crafts, and a juggler. Everyone will enjoy the antique car show on Saturday, and both days will have opportunities for wine and craft beer tastings. Click here to view the entire festival schedule of events.
