Enjoy the last months of summer watching your favorite flicks outdoors!
This summer has been one for the history books. From the closing of movie theaters to the cancellation of travel plans, many of us are searching for new ways to keep ourselves occupied and still enjoy the summer, all while keeping within CDC guidelines.
Well, there’s good news, courtesy of our friends over at The Wharf. We can once again enjoy movies on a big screen ... one that's floating on the water!

Okay, maybe hanging out near the Potomac River isn’t as scenic as the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, but what better place to catch a sunset than right at home in our nation’s capital? Sunset Cinema at The Wharf, in partnership with Cantina Bambina and Pacifico Beer, offers an excellent way to enjoy an outdoor movie and sunset while maintaining social distancing. Cabana reservations are required for groups of 2-6, and the cost is $10 per person to reserve a spot which includes a free popcorn and beer. There is a $20 minimum per person (which includes the $10 reservation fee). So, for an additional $10, you can easily reach the $20 minimum by ordering additional food and drinks during the movie.
(Please note, this event is for ages 21+.)
Here’s the movie line-up:
Thursday, August 13: Jaws
Thursday, August 20: 42, The Jackie Robinson Story
Thursday, August 27: Raiders of the Lost Ark
Thursday, September 10: Dirty Dancing
Thursday, September 17: Hidden Figures
