October is one of my favorite times of the year! And there are just so many seasonal things to do!

This weekend’s roundup of activities does not disappoint. Here is your weekend roundup for Friday, October 5 – Sunday, October 7!

Maryland

Taste of Bethesda | Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle | Saturday

If you missed all the “Taste of” festivals this summer, not to worry, there is one more coming your way! On Saturday, Bethesda will showcase its best local restaurants, and you’ll be able to taste all your favorites and discover some new ones, too! The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Check out more information and purchase tasting tickets here

Virginia

Vienna Oktoberfest |131 Church Street, Vienna, Virginia | Saturday

The Vienna Oktoberfest will take place on historic and charming Church Street from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free, so you’ll be able to wander around and people-watch at your leisure. If you want to do Oktoberfest right, there will be plenty of beer to sip on, and of course, tons of food. Live entertainment will perform throughout the day. This is a great outdoor event to bring your whole family to. Check out more details here.

4th Annual Columbia Pike Fall Festival | Columbia Pike, Virginia | Saturday

It's finally the time of year for fall festivals, and I could not be more excited about it! Come out to the Columbia Pike Fall Festival on Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m. for some fantastic live music from local artists. Craft wine and beer will be served, along with bites to eat for purchase. You can bring your pet and your kid (or both), because all are welcome. Tickets are on sale for $20, and you can find out more information about the event here

Fall Wine Festival and Sunset Tour | George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate | Friday, Saturday, Sunday

I have already recommended that you visit the George Washington Mount Vernon home, where he lived and is currently buried. But what better time to get out there than during this beautiful fall season? This entire weekend, Mount Vernon will be hosting a wine festival as well as a tour of the grounds and house at sunset. There will be live music and plenty of Virginia wine to taste. You’ll also get to see the cellar where George Washington stored his wine, and learn about the history of wine in our country. Pretty cool stuff, if you ask me. Read up on all event details here.

Washington, D.C.

Black Tie Venetian Ball | The Embassy of Italy | Saturday

The Venetian Ball is this Saturday, and it's your opportunity to dress up and feel as glamorous as possible. It’s also your chance to be a complete mystery since masquerade is encouraged. The moment you step into the embassy you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to Italy -- and the past. There are several dining options, and you can find out everything you need to know, as well as buy your tickets, here

The Yards Park Broadway Block Party | The Yards Park | Sunday

I just can’t help myself with all these outdoor events this season, and since I’m sure you love being outside in the fall as much as I do, I’m just going to continue. The Yards Park is hosting a Broadway Block Party on Sunday, and inviting the whole city to come out and have some fun with them! The event will go from noon to 5 p.m., and all the proceeds will benefit Project Sunshine. Local restaurants will participate in serving yummy food, and District Winery will provide you with all the wine you could want. Tickets are $35 per person, and you can purchase them here.

Fall Harvest Italian Cooking Class | Alta Strada | Sunday

Spend your Sunday learning how to cook the most delicious Italian meals with all fresh, seasonal ingredients. Chef Michael Schlow will be teaching a class at Alta Strada, where you’ll learn all his amazing cooking techniques. And the best part? You’ll be able to eat all the food once you’ve made it! Tickets are $95 and selling fast, so get them here now. And if you’re interested in cooking classes in general, check out this article we published on the best ones in Washington, D.C.

The Russian Bazaar | St. John the Baptist Orthodox Cathedral | Saturday, Sunday

This may be one of my favorite events of the weekend (maybe because I’m Russian). This is an opportunity for the Russian community and those interested in Russian culture to gather in one place and enjoy Russian food, music, dance, drinks, and even pick up a little something to take home. Though located at a church, the festival will not be religious at all. Admission is free, and food and beverage tickets can be purchased inside. Check it out here
