Watch the unsettling trailer for "American Murder: The Family Next Door," now available on Netflix.

In August 2018, Chris Watts murdered his wife, their unborn son, and two young daughters. The brutal murders received worldwide recognition. As with any unthinkable story, the public has many questions and is intrigued to find out more about the family, the motive, and the crimes.

"Shanann Watts and her two young daughters went missing in Frederick, Colorado. As details of their deaths made headlines worldwide, it became clear that Shanann’s husband, Chris Watts, wasn’t the man he appeared to be. Experience a gripping and immersive examination of the disintegration of a marriage."

After Lifetime aired Chris Watts: Confessions of a Killer, Netflix has released its own documentary of the disturbing story. American Murder: The Family Next Door is now available, only on Netflix.

Netflix describes the documentary as using "raw, firsthand footage, this documentary examines the disappearance of Shanann Watts and her children, and the terrible events that followed."

Denver's own 9News reported a chilling video in 2019 of Chris Watts describing the murders in his own words. Chris Watts was arrested on August 15, 2018. On November 6, he pled guilty on all of the charges against him in efforts to avoid the death penalty. He is currently serving a life sentence in prison, without the possibility of parole.
