"The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It"
So, The Conjuring 3 trailer was just released this week and I'm terrified, but yet, strangely drawn to the based-on-a-true-story paranormal event. The movie was originally scheduled to be released in September 2020, but due to COVID-19, it's slated to release in theaters and on HBO Max on June 4, 2021.
Thankfully, never having seen the previous two movies in The Conjuring Universe franchise, this is the third in the series which continues the real-life investigations of demonic possession cases by Ed and Lorraine Warren (roles reprised by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga). The Conjuring 3 takes place in the 1980s and is based on the trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, who murdered his landlord in 1981 in Connecticut. His case was groundbreaking as it was the first time a murder suspect claimed demonic possession as a defense.
The movie is directed by Michael Chaves, produced by New Line Cinema, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
