What is motorcyclist food culture?

When you think of biker food, what crosses your mind? I think of hot dogs, beer (of course), and general bar food. But I'm not the most familiar with the biker bar scene. I did some research and was able to uncover some information on the biker bar scene, including what bikers traditionally eat and what they probably should eat. Read on to learn more about the food and drink culture of being a biker on the open road.

Atmosphere

The main focus of a biker bar is having a biker community aspect. Bikers want to be at a place where other bikers congregate and bond over the activity. They also tend to fall more in line with the "dive" side of dining. That's just part of the charm and ambiance! Bikers don't want fancy and bougie; they want cheap and comfortable. Additionally, it's important for a good biker bar to have accessible parking for motorcycles. At times, biker bars even have outdoor spaces to enjoy the nice weather while off the bike.

Cold Beer

This is one of the main things I came across on multiple sites, as well as something I had expected. The bikers want their beer, and they want it cold. After a long day on the open road, a cold beer is bound to hit the spot. (It's also typically cheap beer.) While it is common for many bikers to drink and ride, it is also very dangerous. This should, of course, be obvious. Sometimes, it can be difficult to go against the culture, but safety is key. Do not drink and ride. Know your limits, and don't worry, the beer will still be there when you're done for the day.

Balance

When you think of biker food, healthy and balanced meals probably aren't on your mind. This being said, it is important for bikers to nourish themselves when they can, at least to balance out the fried food and booze they're sure to be trying along the way. Motorcycling can affect both someone's physical and mental energy levels, so it makes sense that bikers should be at least somewhat nutritious. If you are a biker, try not to eat your heavy meals in the middle of the day, because that will just weigh you down. Save that for the end of your ride for the day. And remember, HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! You will especially need it to counteract that booze.

Bar Food

While bikers should make sure to drink water and bring nutritional snacks on the road, when it's time to end the day, the traditional bar food comes out. Burgers, wings, hot dogs, and barbeque are all popular biker bar items. Some places even add a fun twist to tradition. At The Piper Inn, you can order Asian-style wings as well as traditional ones. Bikers like the basics, but they are also open to trying new things.

Biker bars are about atmosphere, cold (cheap) beer, and tasty bar food. Bikers are best suited for bars that have motorcycle parking, affordable prices, and are not too fancy or pretentious. It is still important, however, for bikers to find a sense of balance, and pay attention to nutrition ... at least, to some degree. If you're a biker yourself (or if you're not), remember to drink water. And do not ride under the influence!
