With cream-of-the-crop custom sauce, Chef Skip 757 changes the meaning of satisfying comfort seafood.
Whether you live in the 757, around Hampton Roads, or are just visiting the area, make sure to stop by Chef Skip 757 for the perfect bite of seafood. His food will change your life.
Chef Skip has two running locations -- His downtown Portsmouth restaurant just recently opened in November and offers both sit-down and take-out options, while the Virginia Beach location (near the Green Run area) is take-out only. Chairs are provided for you to sit on while you wait for your food, and the left wall of the restaurant has a white-out board for you to leave messages. Chef Skip 757 also offers catering services.
Rave reviews on Yelp, Facebook, and GrubHub average 4.3 out of 5 stars (I personally give the food and service 5 out of 5 stars and recommend Chef Skip to anyone that I can.)
I first discovered Chef Skip's food truck (sadly, it's no longer running) on my way home from work one day. I brought it up to my boyfriend, and he was very eager to give it a try since food trucks usually have excellent food.
I tried the crabcake sandwich with french fries, while Christian had the fish tacos. Hands down, I have not had seafood from another restaurant in Hampton Roads that has lived up to the taste of Chef Skip's food. I didn't know that it was possible for comfort seafood to taste this good. The service was amazing as well.
Just look at those plating skills! The flower is what sets Chef Skip 757 apart from other take-out restaurants -- he really amps up his dishes to make them just a little more appealing. The sauce-to-crabcake ratio is perfect and adds just the right amount of spice to make it just right.
Every fried item that I have had was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just like it should be. The french fries feature a dusting of Old Bay seasoning, providing just the right amount of spice to top off the meal.
The types of dishes offered include sandwiches, wings, tacos (my boyfriend described the tacos as a "flavor explosion in your mouth"), entrees, and three Philly options. Although the menu is mostly seafood, Chef Skip 757 also features some dishes that would satisfy the land lover -- like one of the Philly options, or the wings.
The restaurant's social media accounts are very active, keeping everyone up-to-date on any menu changes or new items. The chef's dedication to his business and delicious menu are what really draw me to support him as much as I can.
Chef Skip 757's Virginia Beach location can be found at 1591 Dahlia Dr. Ste 105, while the new Portsmouth restaurant is located at 4210 Portsmouth Blvd.
