Giordano's WILL Come to Denver This Fall, and We Finally Have an Opening Date!

It seems like an eternity since we first learned that Chicago-based pizza chain Giordano's was coming to Colorado.

After the news came out last spring that a Giordano's would be opening along the 16th Street Mall, we did what any Giordano's fan (not) in their right mind would do: We canceled all our summer plans. We stalked the space at 1600 California for signs of construction and drooled over the online menu, remembering with fondness our trips to Chicago, past.

But when Giordano's didn't open this summer, we were forced to cancel our fall plans, too.

Enough is enough, I said.

We should be able to get to the bottom of this, I said.

I'm going to do some journalistic investigation and call Giordano's myself, I said.

So I did. And it was tricky business, because the 16th Street Mall location will be a franchise. But never fear: WE TRACKED THEM DOWN.

And we are happy to tell you that Giordano's will FINALLY open on Tuesday, November 13!

Commercial construction projects can often take a little bit longer than expected, Todd Winston, the franchisee with 3G3 LoDo, LLC, explained. They ran into some delays with equipment orders, among other things, which slowed down the overall process. But everything should be wrapped up in time for a November 13 open, though the grand opening celebration will most likely take place sometime in 2019.

So will there be just the one location?

Well, Winston is already on the lookout for A+ real estate to develop into additional Giordano's locations. He won't settle, he said, and he's committed to waiting for just the right spaces to open up.

"It's a tight market right now," he said, "but we're working on it. That's for sure."

Known for their delicious stuffed, deep-dish pizza, Giordano’s — which first opened in Chicago in 1974 — currently has 40+ restaurants in eight other states.
