Cult-favorite doughnut shop will open second location later this year.
It’s out with the pizza, and in with the pastries. Voodoo doughnuts will open another location in the former 44-year home of Famous Pizza, which served its last slice on August 27 due to rising rent costs.
Voodoo Doughnut, founded in Portland, Ore., by “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon, opened its first Denver location on Colfax in 2013 to a long line of sugar-rush fans just dying to try to the quirky varieties. Since then, customers have been enjoying an epic array of doughy goodness, topped with everything from candy to bacon, and so much more.
Now, it plans to bring more of that magic mojo to 98 S. Broadway.
“We’re excited and happy to be part of the Denver community and are looking forward to continuing to provide employment, fantastic doughnuts, and smiles to a growing neighborhood,” Pogson said.
So, whether a classic, glazed old-fashioned or the Dirt Doughnut is your jam (they even have some filled with jam if that’s your … er, jam), you can find them at Voodoo. There is no word yet on an official opening for the Broadway location; the word on the street is that it will open by the end of the year.
If you can’t wait for The Homer to get in your belly, then roll straight over to the Colfax location. It’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (except select holidays) to fill your every wish (vegan doughnuts available!). And, if they don’t have your favorite on hand, you can customize an order to fill that (doughnut) hole in your soul.
