"The Last of Us Part II" wins Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2020. What was your GOTY?

The Game Awards is one of the bigger annual events in the games industry. Last year, 45.2 million individual livestreams tuned in to watch Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice take home Game of the Year.

Instead of its usual big-event fanfare, the show was broadcast this year from a studio in Tokyo. Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and a virtual group called OFK gave standout performances. Celebrities made guest appearances over internet calls, including Brie Larson, Gal Gadot, JackSepticEye, John David Washington, Josef Fares, Keanu Reeves, Nolan North, Reggie Fils-Aime, Stephen A. Smith, Tom Holland, Troy Baker, and Christopher Nolan, who announced the Game of the Year.

In addition to the awards, several new projects were teased. New Mass Effect and Dragon Age games, a new fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII??), a new map in Among Us, and new Halo and The Walking Dead skins for Fortnite. The new Microsoft Flight Simulator looks idyllic, and Vin Diesel fights dinosaurs in Ark 2.
