By celebrating Midsommar, Ikea is introducing the world to this annual festival with food, drink, and special sales. The thing is, they're also reminding us all of one of the most graphic horror movies ever created.
Everyone's favorite Swedish home store is bringing a bit of culture to its stores and starting a bit of a Twitter storm at the same time.
Mark your calendar, the first annual IKEA Midsommar celebration is almost here! Experience the solstice the IKEA way with food, offers, and more in-store. It all starts at your local IKEA on 6/24, check your local store page to get the details! Visit https://t.co/DTULYN52Tg pic.twitter.com/MCQ6tlB3Lq

The announcement seems innocuous enough, but the tweets started rolling in quickly, making the comparisons between the retail event and the blockbuster film with the same name.

Flower garlands, white dresses, yummy picnics ... what could go wrong, right? Anyone who has seen the horror movie "Midsommar" could list off a whole host of things for you. Let's just say you'll never look at a bearskin rug the same way again.

Little tip: if someone offers you "special tea," find a way to decline politely. That's where things start to go downhill in the movie.
I went to Ikea to buy stuff for the new flat, and they were having a Swedish solstice celebration that involved making flower garlands for your head and I was like, "No thanks, I saw Midsommar and I know this won't end well." pic.twitter.com/rZYDhkeb87
