Which is the better choice for your home?

If you're in the market for a new water heater, it can be a pretty daunting task to find the right one—especially since it's not something you go out and buy on a daily basis. So, if you're not sure what kind of water heater is best for your home, don't worry. We've got you covered!

Below, we go over what both a tank heater is and what a tankless heater is, as well as some key differences between the two, in order for you to find the right water heater for your home. Without further ado, let's dive in!

Tank Water Heaters: What Are They?

A tank water heater features a tank (obviously) that is used to hold water to be heated.

However, while this is the most common type of water heater among family homes, there is a limit to how much hot water it holds. The capacity of the tank determines how much hot water you have available at once, so if your tank is too small or you need an excessive amount of hot water one day, you may run out and have to wait for the next tank to be heated.

Tankless Water Heaters: What Are They?

A tankless water heater does not have a tank (again, obviously).

In place of the tank are super-heated coils that fill with water and heat water as needed and are typically powered by electricity or gas. They transfer the water through a heat exchanger and then deliver it directly to your faucets or shower; no need to store the water in a tank.
