Buying Mother's Day gifts is a great way to show your love and appreciation for all the special moms in your life.

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 14. Celebrate mom this year with brunch and a nice gift from a local Maryland business. You can find all of the typical Mother’s Day gifts like candy and jewelry, with one-of-a-kind books and experiences. Here are five unique gifts you can pick up in Maryland just in time for Mother’s Day:

Stories & Recipes from Old Line Plate

A cookbook is the perfect gift if your mother loves to spend time in the kitchen. Maryland local Kara Mae Harris turned her love of vintage recipes into a book of history and recipes in the old line state. Inside “Old Line Plate: Stories & Recipes from Maryland,” you’ll find classic recipes for jelly cake and Maryland Fried chicken along with stories and anecdotes about the origins of the recipes. Get for $35 at Amazon.com and pre-order her next book, “Festive Maryland Recipes” available in the fall.

Candy Caramels from Mouth Party Caramels

Mouth Party Caramels makes quality caramel with butter, cream, and sugar in small batches right here in Baltimore. The individually wrapped caramels come in sea salt, original, chocolate, chocolate covered, and Chesapeake, flavored with Old Bay Seasoning. You can also buy caramel sauce for ice cream sundaes and recipes. Buy them online, at the Timonium factory, or visit the website for a list of local stores in Maryland that carry the brand.
