Honda = Reliability AND Performance

As the old saying in the business goes, "win on Sunday, sell on Monday," which is why every automaker should support a motorsports division of some sort. Don't believe me? Well, Enzo Ferrari didn't even want to make road cars, he just obliged to keep Ferrari on the race track. And nowadays, an early 60s Ferrari 250 GTO will cost you around a cool $40 million. But most of us can't afford that, or even a 'normal' Ferrari, so let's talk the next best thing – Honda.

Okay, I know what you're thinking ... what about BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Alfa Romeo? However, those too can be on the pricier side, and honestly, if you can't afford it or don't want to spend at least $50K on a car, there's no shame in driving a Honda – at least from a car person's perspective. Here are six fast Honda's that prove why:

The 1966 Honda RC166

Honda originally manufactured motorcycles, so it's no surprise that small, high revving engines are their expertise, and nothing show's off Honda's ability to build amazing engines like the 1966 RC166. Raced by the great Mike Hailwood, Honda's 250cc race bike secured both the rider's and constructor's titles in 1966 and 1967.

1991 Ayrton Senna Helps Honda McLaren Win Its 6th Consecutive Manufacturer's Championship

Many argue that Ayrton Senna was the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time, and while I'd love to argue that, we'll have to save it for another time. Needless to say, Honda helped Senna what he did best, win.

Honda NSX (Okay, the Acura NSX to You)

Speaking of Ayrton Senna, he helped Honda engineers refine what's often regarded as one of the greatest cars ever produced: the Honda NSX. In this video, you can see both how brilliant the man was and just how great the car is.

Honda S2000

Who doesn't love a great roadster, let alone one that revs to 9,000 rpms? Sure this S2000 has a few modifications, but to hunt down a BMW M4 on the Nurburgring, that's impressive. Props to both driver and machine.

2017 Civic Type R, Fastest FWD Car Around the Nurburgring

Not only is the new 306-horsepower Civic Type R the fastest front-wheel-drive car ever to lap the 'ring, but you can also do it while jamming gears yourself. Nothing says 'we still love you enthusiasts' by offering a manual transmission. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Honda.

Honda Rallycross Civic

The Honda Rallycross Civic is absolute madness on wheels. This 600-horsepower hits 0-60 in just 1.9 seconds and can handle the massive 70-foot table top jumps planned for the races. It's not just cool, it's drool-worthy.

As for me, I might have to sneak up to Tyrell Honda in Cheyenne and get that Accord manual I've been eyeing. And remember, be proud to drive a Honda, they're fantastic machines.
