Here's The Capitol Hill Go-to's.

For many Denverites, native or not, Capitol Hill remains a more-affordable (relative terms here) oasis in a city that has otherwise been infected by modern luxury apartments, Audis, and small plate bistros. That's not to say that Capitol Hill isn't without some of these things, but it's the only place where old high-rises shade the mansions of Denver's old money, where the homeless can still roam in peace, where different eras of architecture meld, and the home to "poet's row". With that said, if you're looking to move to Denver, Capitol Hill is a great place to start not because it's cheaper but simply because it tips its hat to the real Denver you'll hear people reminiscing about, and we've got the go-to's that'll make your Cap-Hill life that much better.

For food

[gallery size="large" ids="21513,21514,21515"] Capitol Hill is home to some of Denver's staples. Among the classics are Charlie Brown's, where Denver beats were regulars. Yes, you can smoke a cig on the patio and enjoy a behemoth meal here. They also offer free chicken wings on Friday for happy hour and your first drink is buy one, get one. The other's include Racines, Govnr's Park, and not too far away on 6th is Odyssey Italian restaurant -- which could very well be the closest to the real thing in the West. Tacos & margs can be had at Uno Mas 2 just down the road if you're taco crazy, and on the other side of the 'hood you can find great Chinese food at Wokano and phenomenal vegetarian cuisine at City O' City. That's all we're giving you, you explore the rest!

For drinks

Vesper Lounge can woo you into having another, and has a great little patio. Pearl's of 13th has Motown Thursdays where you get free chicken and waffles with the purchase of a drink, and the Capitol Hill Tavern can take care of your imbibing needs.

For herb

Capitol Hill There is one undisputed choice on our list. Alternative Medicine at Capitol Hill. In proper Cap-Hill fashion, it's the down-to-earth place you go to for their selection and service. It's the only dispensary I know of that offers snacks to those who are staving off munchies as they wait for others to make their selections, and they are by far the friendliest bud tenders I've ever met.

For killing time

[gallery size="large" ids="21520,21522,21524"] Take the walking tour of Capitol Hill, the Capitol, and make full use of the Denver Public Library. The Colorado History Museum usually has some cool displays, and the Art Museum is just across the street if you're into that kind of thing. If you've watched Titanic recently, you can visit the Molly Brown museum, and Civic Center park has a summer movie series, or you could catch a show at the Fillmore or Ogden. We know we've missed quite a bit, but the rest is for you to explore. Let us know what you find! What are your thoughts, Denver? Do you have a cool tidbit of Capitol Hill's history? If so, add it in the comments below!
