So how much difference can an insulated garage door make? Engineers at Clopay Doors decided to put the concept of insulated doors to the test, and what they found was staggering. On a 20-degree day with an uninsulated door, they measured the indoor ambient garage temperature to be 30 degrees. Then they installed the insulated door and measured the indoor ambient garage temperature to be 42 degrees. That's 12 degrees, which is 40 percent warmer than the uninsulated door. Now that's enough to make a difference!
However, for many of us, garages aren't considered living space. They often have places for hot or cold air to enter, so be sure to make sure those are taken care of! Then couple that with the insulation door, and you'll be saving the green while being green -- not to mention, you'll be more comfortable running out to the "garage fridge" or hopping in the car!
