It's almost that magical time of year!

As Santa takes flight, you can keep track of his whereabouts through cutting-edge satellite technology.

The U.S. Defense Department just put out an announcement about their preparation for one of the busiest times of the year: Christmas. Forget regular air traffic, it's Santa's flight that they'll be monitoring, starting December 24.

One of the best Christmas traditions comes to us courtesy of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). This international military force has eyes around the globe to give you the best possible view of the skies.

On Christmas Eve, you can go to their website, download the Santa tracking app, or follow along on their Twitter account to catch regular updates on Santa's progress.

For more information, or to spread a little holiday cheer, check out the official NORAD Santa Tracker website. Before Christmas Eve, you can find other fun activities like short-form movies, festive holiday music, arcade games, and fun facts about the big man himself. There's even an online gift shop where you can order NORAD-themed merchandise!

If you have trouble reaching the site, you can always call the Santa Tracker hotline at 1-877-HI-NORAD to hear updates. How cool is that?

Is tracking Santa one of your family traditions each Christmas Eve? Let us know in the comments!
