Animal Care Center of Castle Pines and OCN want you to meet our Pet of the Month!

oopsie This month’s pet of the month is Oopsie. She was given that name the day her new parents came to the shelter to look for a new dog! Her future mom dropped her purse and exclaimed ‘oopsie!’ Then this little angel ran over, as if her name had been called. Her new owners fell in love straight away - and can you really blame them? I mean, look at that face! They knew they had to take her home, and even kept her self-chosen name, Oopsie. oopsie A little while after they adopted her, Oopsie’s parents noticed that she was having a few problems. Oopsie started having accidents around the house and drinking more water than normal. She was also scared to walk around alone at night. Her owners took her into Animal Care Center of Castle Pines, and their team worked to figure out what was wrong. oopsie A thorough blood panel revealed that she had diabetes. Dr. Angela Everett of ACCCP also found that Oopsie had early cataracts, which explained her reluctance to walk around in the dark.

Once she was diagnosed, Oopsie’s owners and Dr. Everett worked to get her stabilized. They came up with solutions to help manage her diabetes, and to help her get around the house. As you can see from the photos, Oopsie is very well adjusted now! Her owners monitor what she eats, because they know that even one extra cookie or scrap could throw off her blood sugar levels. They keep a close eye on her as she walks around and explores. All our best wishes to Oopsie and her family! We hope you continue to do well, and we’re happy that the awesome folks at Animal Care Center of Castle Pines were able to help you. A big shoutout to Dr. Everett for taking such good care of such a sweet little girl!
