The top 10 baby names are here, and two names have taken over the 2010’s completely.

Usually, there are two types of people who simply adore baby names: parents and writers. However, there is a small part of everyone who is genuinely curious. Which names made the list and why? Were they good names? Were they bad names? Is the new royal baby’s name on the list?

So many questions! Rest assured, the Social Security Administration has released 2018’s top 10 most popular baby names. Liam and Emma were the top baby names for both 2018 and 2017. Same with the second-most popular names, Noah and Olivia. In that perspective, not much has changed.

If you look towards the past a lot more, the story gets more interesting. YouTuber Abacaba did some research on the history of baby names by U.S. state, and Emma didn’t become a popular baby name until the early 2000s and Liam just only recently became popular in the last few years. According to Abacaba’s video, names like Michael, Jennifer, Christopher, and Mary mainly ruled the last 20th century.

Now, the interesting part is that none of these names are in the top 10.
