Online shopping has reached an all-time high. It’s convenient and easy, but how safe is it for your identity?

Protecting your identity is incredibly important, and protecting yourself from credit card fraud is a big part of that. There are a lot of things you as a consumer can do to protect yourself against credit card fraud. Read further for identity theft protection. Only give out credit card information online on reputable websites--  If you are shopping online, be sure wherever you are ordering your items from is a reputable company. If something seems off, do NOT put your credit card information in. Protect your Personal Information-- Pay attention to where you are asked to provide your address, phone number, Social Security number, or account numbers. Con artists can be very persuasive, and will say anything to get you to divulge your information. If you haven't initiated the interaction, be extra careful. Shred Everything--Shredding documents is one of the best ways to protect your identity against fraud or theft. Shred documents that contain personal information, including address and telephone number. This makes it significantly harder for con artists to find your personal information. Receive and Pay Bills Electronically-- By having your bills sent electronically, you eliminate another piece of paper that contains your personal information, which would be easy to throw away without a second thought. With our convenient and easy-to-use online banking system, you can pay all your bills online and also set up reminders for when they're due. Check Your Credit History Regularly-- Keeping a regular eye on your credit history will help you make sure it is accurate and legitimate.
