Love the thought of cutting down your own Christmas tree? Here are some great options for local Christmas tree farms!
It's truly a family affair when you pack everyone in the car with a picnic lunch and head out to find the perfect Christmas tree. Bundle up and make lots of memories this year at one of these wonderful tree farms.
1. Middleburg Christmas Tree Farm
Located in picturesque horse country, the Middleburg Christmas Tree Farm will have a reduced season this year, only open for the weekend after Thanksgiving (Friday, November 29, through Sunday, December 1) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Visit their website for additional information. This tree farm only accepts cash or checks, so come prepared!
2. Linden Hill Christmas Tree Farm
This popular Maryland Christmas tree farm sold out in two to three weeks in 2017 so be sure to go early! Their opening day is also Friday, November 29, and they will remain open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. each day), until they're sold out. If you forget to pack a lunch, their Snack Shack will be serving up Nathan's hot dogs, chips, hot chocolate, and warm spiced cider. Yum!
3. Moose Apple Christmas Tree Farm
This Virginia tree farm boasts over 25,000 trees on the 33-acre property. Their tree varieties include Douglas Fir, ConColor Fir, Norway Spruce, Blue Spruce, White Spruce, and White Pine. In addition to Christmas trees, they have fresh-made wreaths of all sizes, garlands, and evergreen roping. They'll be open November 29–December 1, December 5–8, December 12–15, and December 19–22. Rumor has it that Santa may be on hand for a meet and greet on certain days, so check their website to see when he's expected!
