U.S. News and World Report has released its annual list of the best places to live in the country, and two Colorado cities -- Colorado Springs and Denver -- have cracked the top three.

Tell us something we don't know! According to U.S. News and World Report's 2018 Best Places to Live list, two Colorado cities have been included among the top five -- Colorado Springs came in second place with Denver following in third.

Austin (Texas) ranked as the best place to live, with Des Moines (Iowa) at No. 4 and Fayetteville (Arkansas) at No. 5.

The report focused on the country's 125 largest metropolitan areas, looking at several factors, including affordability, quality of life, and job availability. To get all of the data necessary for the report, U.S. News looked to the Census Burea, FBI, and Department of Labor for those specific factors. A public survey was conducted online to see which of the 125 cities people prefer to live in.

"When deciding on a place to settle down, it's important to understand that where a person lives can impact their well-being," said Kim Castro, executive editor at U.S News. "U.S. News created the Best Places to Live to highlight areas across the country that have characteristics residents are looking for, including steady job growth and affordability."

She continued, "The top-ranked places are areas where citizens feel the most fulfilled socially, physically and financially."
