While it may sound like the opening line of a bad joke, two kids in California truly did try to save a penny buying tickets to a showing of "Black Panther" by attempting the oldest trick in the book.

With an incredibly long trench coat, a stylish fedora, and one adolescent sitting atop the shoulders of the other, these kids tried getting their hands on a two-for-one deal by posing as a laughably tall man. It went about as well as you might’ve guessed. https://twitter.com/stevelikescups/status/964622725833670656
Fellow moviegoers saw the humor in the ridiculous disguise, laughing and pulling out their cellphones to capture the harmless prank -- surely for proof later when they say to their friends, “Yes, this thing we only ever saw in cartoons actually happened to me in real life!” However, you can see from the full video below, the employees weren’t willing to go along with it, and the only way for the boys to get their tickets would be if they dropped their facade. https://twitter.com/stevelikescups/status/964908923923804162 While they likely wound up paying for two, full-priced tickets, the pranksters were successful in going viral on social media. Currently, their shenanigans have been retweeted nearly 180,000 times, and their original video has over nine million views. So, even though it didn’t go as far as they might have hoped, at the very least the entire internet got a good laugh from it. And, honestly, can we really blame these kids for resorting to desperate measures? Marvel’s latest cinematic installment absolutely shattered box office records this past weekend, bringing in over $400 million in global ticket sales as of Monday. Theatres are scrambling to add showtimes for "Black Panther" to keep up with consumers, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see suspiciously proportioned adults start popping up at your own local theatre. Most of us, however, will stick to the usual tricks to avoid spending ridiculous sums at the movies. That is, stocking up on refreshments at the nearest Five Below and telling the staff your short, 20-year-old friend is actually under 12 to save $4 buying a child’s ticket. What’s the craziest thing you’ve done to save money on a trip to the movies? Let us know in the comments!

They just added "hangry" to the dictionary. See what other new words were added here!
