Ever wonder what people think of your home state? Check out Google’s map of commonly asked questions about each stateWe go to Google for anything and everything. So much so that we have made the word a verb in addition to being a noun. The widespread use of the search engine has made it so that it even autocompletes our commonly asked questions for us. Sometimes those autocomplete responses can lead to some unexpected hilarity.Case in point: This map of what Google suggests when you type in “Why does [state]...” Questions include: “Why does Texas want to secede,” “Why does Nevada allow prostitution,” “Why does Rhode Island exist,” “Why does Colorado hate California,” Why does Montana hate the FBI,” and “Why does Arizona not observe Daylight Savings Time.” I must say I’m guilty of contributing to that one. Spoiler alert: Arizona participated for one summer. Then realized what an awful idea it was to have more sunlight in the evening. Longer sunlight means more air conditioning, more energy used and more misery. In a nearly unanimous vote, Arizona legislators agreed to opt out of daylight-saving time in 1967. So now you know! Now you know what people tend to think of the state you live or were born in. Just try not to hold it against them—that's what smelly Nebraskans do.
