Community members strive to combine being active while helping the community. Plans are in motion for a Wheat Ridge pedi-cab service.

Wheat Ridge pedi-cab It all began with the LiveWell Colorado community grant that was dedicated to fighting obesity and promoting healthy lifestyles. Rachel Hultin, a coordinator of the group, is the cause for the new found idea of providing pedi-cabs for the elderly. Inspired by her own son and by discovering an article on Facebook, Rachel thought that it would be a fabulous combination of promoting good health and good deeds. After she shared the article talking about a Wheat Ridge pedi-cab project for the elderly, she instantly got multiple positive responses to prompt her to possibly bring this service to the community. Hultin and her cycling friends came together and began designing a pedi-cab that would be elderly friendly and easily accessible not just for the elderly, but for anyone who is looking for an alternative to driving. Recently in December, the organization started a campaign through ioby.org in hopes to raise $6,000 to start their pedi-cab project and call it Cycle Trooper. They believe the launch date will either be April or May and hope that the organization will prompt the community to get involved in city parades and charity events. A simple act of kindness by the people of Wheat Ridge not only aids in the safety of the elderly, but encourages community members to live an active lifestyle.
