Your weekend train trip from Denver to Winter Park just got more interesting.
The Winter Park ski train has always been pretty cool, but starting in January riders can really sit back and enjoy on the ride. The weekend train will now feature a lounge car complete with snacks, refreshments, and a selection of adult beverages, as well.
Now, as the train winds its way up to the mountains and under the Continental Divide, you can enjoy the scenery and sip Fat Tire Amber, Blue Moon, or Coors Light. Woodbridge Wine varieties will also be available. Beer and wine will run from $5.50 to $6.50 per glass. Soda, coffee, water, tea, and juice, as well as several snack options, are available for the non-imbibing crowd.
"This onboard service improvement is in response to customers who have asked for coffee and other items on the trip up to Winter Park each morning, with snacks and other beverages on the evening return trip," says Amtrak.
What's even more exciting for lucky riders is that the lounge car will be one of Amtrak's two-level Superliner Sightseer cars. These special cars feature windows that start at the floor level and wrap into the ceiling of the railcar. This provides an unmatched view of Colorado's winter wonderland. Now you can relax after a day on the slopes, surrounded by beautiful scenery, and sip on a merlot, all while someone does the driving for you.

The Winter Park Express makes its first trip of the season on Jan. 4, and it will run until March 9. You can check out the menu of snacks and beverages available on the Amtrak site.
