There is a puppy up for adoption this week!

If you are sitting in your house lonely and wanting to have someone to keep you company, you should consider adopting one of these sweet animals. All of them are guaranteed to give you lots of love. With the help of the local shelters, we've compiled a list of the cutest pets available for adoption in Hampton Roads. Check out this week's adorable options!

Hope for Life Rescue, Inc. | Virginia Beach

Hope for Life Rescue, Inc., is an amazing nonprofit shelter located at 610 Jack Rabbit Rd, Ste 3., in Virginia Beach. When you get there, you'll find them in the third building to the left – by the big yellow truck! See their available animals on their Facebook page

Devon, 1-3

Devon is an incredibly shy girl who was hiding underneath a cat bed when I walked into the room. I had to lie down on the ground to find her and spent some time attempting to convince her to come out. She was scared and hissed at me a few times, but after some patient and calm persistence, I was able to break her out of her shell and was able to pet her, but just on her head. Once she realized that I wasn't there to hurt her but to get to know her, she melted and went in for the scratches. She seemed comfortable with the other cats in the room, but since she is so skittish it might be best if she goes to a home without other animals.

King Arthur, 4 Months

This shy and reserved guy will sweep you off your feet once you get to know him. He has been described as a sweetie pie by staff, and he gets along with the other dogs pretty well so far. Since King Arthur is a puppy he will require extensive training, including potty training outdoors. Consider him for your family, here!

Virginia Beach SPCA (VBSPCA)

The Virginia Beach SPCA is a private-run shelter, meaning they do not get any government funding and are in the Hampton Roads area at 3040 Holland Rd., in Virginia Beach. Check them out on their websiteFacebook, and Instagram!

Lewis, 1

Do you know much about the cattle dog? This quiet and reserved guy needs a quiet and patient owner who will be able to work with him on some training and to become accustomed to his new home. We hope that you can be the family to teach Lewis how to be a carefree and happy dog! Pick him up here!

Hank, 8

Don't be fooled by his name; Hank is not a working man. He loves to lounge around his cat tower and be brushed and pampered! He has lived with dogs and cats previously, so he is an experienced guy!

Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center

The Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center is another local VB shelter located at 341 S. Birdneck Rd. in Virginia Beach. Check them out on their websiteInstagram, and Facebook. Check out their adoption process and fees here!

Freddy, 5

Freddy, Dog

Freddy is one lucky man who gets to hang out in a foster home until he is adopted! He does have hip dysplasia so he would do best in a one-story home with carpet as wood floors are slippery for him. Freddy is a major couch potato who will love to snuggle with you while you binge Netflix! He does enjoy going for walks, but he won't run and is overall a very laid-back guy! He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home just great! Take this sweet boy home, here!

Jessica, 1-3

Jessica, Cat

Jessica recently gave birth to a litter of kittens, and all her babies were taken to homes (poor girl). She is picky about being around other cats, so a slow introduction is recommended. According to her foster mom, she's a really great cat who is very loving and will take naps with her humans! Consider her here

Chesapeake Animal Services

Chesapeake Animal Services is a local shelter located at 2100 S. Military Hwy, in Chesapeake. You can check them out on their websiteFacebook, and Instagram.

(Side note: Currently the Chesapeake Animal Services is having kittens under one year available for adoption for only $25 each through June 30.)

Simon, 4.5

Don't you just melt at that happy face? Sadly, Simon has been chilling at the Chesapeake Humane Society since January so he desperately needs a home – shelter life is okay but he would prefer a warm bed to go to every night. He has been described as a very social boy so he would do great around other dogs and people! Just a heads up, he did just finish a heartworm treatment.

Bella, 2.5

Bella, Cat

Bella is a beautiful little girl who has been relaxing with the staff since February. She is a bit shy when you first meet her, but she will warm up to you once she feels comfortable. Take this girl home, here!

Norfolk SPCA

The Norfolk SPCA is the local shelter to the Norfolk area and can be found at 916 Ballentine Boulevard, in Norfolk – check them out on their website and Facebook!

DJ Diamond, 11 Months

I'm wondering why this girl has not been adopted yet! She's crate-trained (your work is done), great with other dogs and kids, and is overall a happy-go-lucky dog! The staff has described her as the life of the party so there will not be a single dull moment with her! Bring her into your heart, here!

Catsby, 4

If you are looking for a chatty cat who will make you question whether you're the boss, then check out Catsby. He is great with cat-friendly dogs, loves wet food, and is learning how to sit on command! Please take him home here!

Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter | Newport News

The Peninsula SPCA is more than just an adoption shelter; they're a petting zoo, too. Popular to the locals, you can find them at 5843 Jefferson Ave., in Newport News – check them out on FacebookInstagram, and their website! The shelter performs a behavioral test on each animal while they are at the shelter so they can provide a thorough description.

Neeko, 2

Neeko, Dog

This handsome boy recently went on a Weekend Warrior visit and was well-behaved. Neeko enjoyed the car ride, going on a walk, assisting with his yard work, and watching the ducks play in the water. This guy is very social and well-behaved, and he loves to play. Please consider taking him home, here!

Do we even need to say much about this purrfect girl? She is sitting upright for the camera, just waiting for her photo op! Consider her here!
