Check out this week's pets up for adoption!

As we descend into summer, we're gonna want to spend more time outdoors! And what better way to do that than get a furry companion to experience it with? We've compiled a list of the cutest pets available in Maryland.

Check out this week's adorable options!

Maryland SPCA | Baltimore

The smile on his face is enough for you to want to take him home! Polar Bear is a high-energy dog who will require an active home. He was found as a stray, so not much is known about him. Find him here!

Gizzy, 2

black cat with green eyes

Courtesy of Maryland SPCA

His face says, "Please adopt me, I want a home of my own." Gizzy (aka Gizz) is a one-of-a-kind cat who has plenty of hilarious quirks! He will require an experienced and patient owner as he can get over-enthusiastic. He is very easily entertained so it won't take much to get this boy going. Gizzy is comfortable with everyone he meets and would do best in a home with another playmate! Learn more here!

Animal Care Shelter for Kent County | Chestertown

The Animal Care Shelter is the local shelter for Chestertown, Maryland, and can be found at 10720 Augustine Herman Hwy, Chestertown, Maryland, 21620. Contact them at 410-778-3648 if you have any questions. Check out their adoption policy here

Harbaugh, 1

dog in wooded area

Courtesy of Animal Care Shelter for Kent County

Harbaugh requires a lot of love, patience, and training since he still has a lot of puppy energy left to give! He'll need both obedience training and potty-training. He is rather large, so he would do best in a home without any other pets or small children. Learn more here!

Sherbert, 15

tabby cat kitten

Courtesy of Animal Care Shelter for Kent County

Sherbert, Sherbert, Sherbert ... this gal is exactly what you have been looking for. With the soul of a young cat, she greets everyone who comes into the shelter to meet her with a quaint head-butt. She has lots of love to give and is looking for a quiet home. (Side note: she sure loves her snuggles!) Visit her here!

Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center | Derwood

Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center is an amazing shelter that cares for homeless, abused, and neglected animals. Though Boby is on the older side and has surpassed the puppy stage, he still loves a good game of fetch, socializing with people, going for car rides, and playing with his toys. He still loves to go for hikes too, but will be ready to snuggle with you while watching Netflix! Find him here!

Oscar, 11

black and white cat with whiskers

Oscar is the social butterfly cat you have always wanted. All of your friends will rave over him as he sure loves getting attention. He's good to go on all fronts with other animals, so there are no worries there! Find him here!

Scooby, 3

brown dog on leash outdoors

Courtesy of Mary Swift

Scooby is a staff favorite who is nicknamed Scoobert (just adorable)! He has the sweetest eyes of any dog I have seen (they smile at you), which is definitely his selling point! If you are looking for an active dog that just needs a little help with manners and training, then look no further! Be sure to take him on walks or hikes as he requires an active home. This guy was once tied to a porch and left alone, so he might have some anxiety issues to work through with just the right family. Learn more here!

Ginger, 2

fluffy calico cat with whiskers and green eyes

Courtesy of Mary Swift

Ginger is a reserved tabby mix who loves her head scratches. She has lived with other cats and children previously, so she's good to go! She is a curious girl who likes to watch the birds from a big window, so a window lounger would be recommended. Check her out here!

SPCA of Anne Arundel County | Annapolis

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County is the local shelter for Annapolis, Maryland. Visit them at 1815 Bay Ridge Avenue, or call them at 410-268-4388. Also, you can check them out on Facebook and their website!

K-Dog, 3

white and brown dog sitting on patio pavers

Courtesy of SPCA of Anne Arundel County

K-Dog is great with children and other dogs his size, and he loves to run and play. He would do best in an active home with a family that could take him on outings to the park or beach so he can burn off some of that energy. Just a heads up: He is not very fond of small dogs or cats but will get along great with dogs his size or a little larger! Get to know him more here!

Mittens, 9

brown and white kitten on blue background

Courtesy of SPCA of Anne Arundel County

Mittens was surrendered because his previous family was not able to take him with them. Since he was surrendered at such an old age, he can be timid and is still learning to trust again, but just be patient – he will be great for the purrfect human! This sweet fellow loves to watch birds, people-watch out the window, and snuggle with you under a soft blanket! Find him here!

Baltimore Barcs Animal Rescue and Care Shelter | Baltimore

Baltimore Barcs Animal Rescue is a wonderful shelter in Baltimore that can be found at 301 Stockholm St., Baltimore, MD 21230. Call them at 410-396-4695 if you have any questions. Check them out on Facebook and their website, and take a look at their adoption policy here

Mingus, 5

A clever boy who knows tricks, Mingus has a lot of love to share with his future family! He is high-energy so he would require an active home who could take him on a run or walk daily! Check out his YouTube video! Find him here!

Butler, 5

angry cat

Courtesy of Baltimore Barcs Animal Rescue and Care Shelter

Originally found as a stray, Butler has been moved to a foster home, which he is thriving in! He will be your watch guard while you are in the bathroom (wondering why you don't just use the litter box), but nonetheless, he will guard you while you are defenseless, too. He loves making friends with the other animals in the home, so he is good to go on all fronts. Since he was found as a stray, he loves lounging around in a soft blanket! Get to know him more here!
