Are you an outdoorsy and artsy foodie with a dog? Consider yourself a Denverite.

More than half of Denver's population is made up of transplants. If you've lived here long enough, you probably find that figure irritating, but not surprising. Denver was ranked No. 3 in the U.S. News report on the best places to live in America this year for its job market, desirability, value, quality of life, and net migration. Whether you're a native or a transplant, you've likely been spoiled by everything Denver has to offer, from great food to the great outdoors. So, what separates the newbies from the locals? Here are 18 unmistakable signs of a true Denverite.

1. You're not surprised that a coffee shop is also five other establishments rolled into one

You went in for a cup of joe, and you leave with a new book, a ticket to a concert, and a haircut. Denver is filled with eclectic businesses that seem to do it all.

2. You only recognize two types of hikes: "easy" and "dangerous"

If you're a seasoned hiker, you probably think any incline is manageable. The real difficulty comes in not falling off the side of a cliff.

3. You understand that limes are not fruits but modes of transportation

When someone suggests you "grab a lime," you don't head for the grocery store. You look around for a scooter

4. You've gotten a ticket for jaywalking or taking your dog out without a leash

You'd think there weren't any real crimes taking place in this city.

5. You're willing to wait hours for brunch

... because there is literally no other option and you must have pancakes.

6. You check the weather every time you go outside

It may have been snowing this morning, but that doesn't mean you'll need a jacket in the afternoon.

7. Weed just smells like fresh air to you

Take a deep breath and enjoy the crisp air and the smell of someone smoking pot in the vicinity.

8. You own too many pairs of sunglasses

You stop to pick up a new pair every time you forget yours at home -- the sun is just too blinding otherwise.

9. Your calendar is marked for Mile High Soul Club, Guilty Pleasures, and First Fridays

You're tapped into the local monthly events worth attending.

10. You're enthusiastically prepared with an umbrella

It might rain. Okay, it probably won't rain. But if it does, you're for some reason more prepared than someone who lives in Seattle.

11. You blame newbie transplants for every annoyance

From traffic to high rent prices, those newbies are making everything worse.

12. You call ahead to ask, "Are dogs allowed?"

Because you never go anywhere without your fur baby.

13. You already know what you want from Illegal Pete's

Holding up the line is a sure sign you're a tourist. If you've been in Denver long enough, you have the menu memorized.

14. You're bored of checking out new breweries

Just how many more types of craft beer do we need?

15. You bring a joint to a potluck

... and the host accepts the generous contribution.

16. You consider Grandoozy to be a major festival

Sure, it's not Lollapalooza or Coachella, but it's all we've got.

17. You own hiking boots and a tech fleece

Let's face it, your closet looks like the sale rack at an REI.

18. You try to convince your friends to move here

Because you're not going anywhere, and they're all missing out!
